Nevada County Fire & Rescue considers employees it's most important asset. Achieving maximum efficiency, professionalism and personal satisfaction will remain the upmost priority. Administrative, operational logistical support are critical components in an effective and efficient fire organization. With four different fire agencies, there are several oportunities for sharing and combining overall resources and effectiveness. These benefits include balanced resources, cost efficiency, response standardization and an overall improvement to service within our county.

The four agencies comprised of Nevada County Fire & Rescue utilize a joint response plan. This plan was developed using the closest resource response to the address or location based upon staffed stations. This plan helps agencies maintain a less than 6 minute response to emergency incidents. The plan assists with "move-up" and cover assignments during critical incidents; allowing coverage for response areas should multiple incidents occur at the same time.

Emergency Medical Services are services provided by the fire agencies relating to pre-hospital medical care. The fire service has been providing EMS for approximately 40 years with data showing the majority of emergency responses are EMS related. Currently, NCCFD, R&RFPD and OHFPD provide "Basic Life Support" first response with PVFPD having the only "Advanced Life Support" fire-based paramedic ambulance in western Nevada County. NCFR would increase their EMS capabilities to better serve the citizens of Nevada County with more ALS services.

Additionally, Nevada County Fire & Rescue's service to the county will be supplemented by our Special Operations capabilities. Existing programs already in motion are the Swiftwater Rescue Team, High-Angle Rope Rescue, Helicopter Rescue Team, Large Animal Rescue and Confined Space Rescue. Programs currently in development to better serve our community are Trench Rescue, Structure Collapse and Hazardous Materials Operations.

Lastly, proactive fire prevention, life-safety education and code enforcement are key components in maintaining safety and a fire agencies best opportunity in minimizing human suffering and financial loss within the community. NCFR will identify highest priority risks and implement strategies to mitigate them within the communty; creating a safer place to live.
