MANAGING YOUR BURN PILE
Check to see if it is a burn day and check weather conditions
Maintain a 10 foot diameter, down to bare soil, free of flammables
Burn dry, dead material such as leaves, pine needles and tree trimmings
Keep a water source and shovel on hand
Never leave pile unattended
Choose a safe spot to burn away from powerlines, overhanging limbs and structures
Burn between 9am-3pm for maximum smoke dispersion
Fully extinguish coals with water
WHAT CAN BE BURNED?
Dry vegetation grown on the property may be burned outdoors. To avoid thick smoke, burn material that has been down for 3-6 weeks and has had the chance to dry out. Household trash and garbage CANNOT be burned and is prohibited!
